Leading automotive manufacturer selects Akamai for delivery of
popular, consumer-focused destinations www.NissanUSA.com and
www.Infiniti.com
Akamai Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: AKAM), a provider of products and services that enable the world's leading enterprises and government agencies to extend and control their e-business infrastructure, today announced that Nissan North America, Inc. will implement the Akamai EdgeSuite(SM) service across a number of its consumer-focused Web properties to ensure consistent, reliable whole site delivery on a global scale, while preserving the integrity of its world-class online brand.
As traditional businesses seek to leverage the Internet's economies of scale for integrated marketing initiatives, e-commerce, and other customer-facing processes, they're increasingly faced with the need to over-provision their Web infrastructure to safeguard against poor site performance and outages that can diminish revenues and brand value. The Akamai EdgeSuite service will allow Nissan North America to extend its Web infrastructure to the Akamai Platform, optimizing the delivery of Nissan North America's corporate sites, www.NissanUSA.com and www.Infiniti.com. As a result, site visitors will be ensured the highest quality online experience, regardless of their location.
In addition, the EdgeSuite service has been selected as the delivery foundation for Nissan's online marketing campaigns that will support the revival of its Z sports car, as well as for its popular Xterra sports utility vehicle (SUV). Having recently introduced its "Shift" ad campaign, Nissan will rely on Akamai to provide a robust, flexible foundation for Web marketing while simplifying the planning requirements of its online initiatives. Nissan's introduction of www.Z.com and www.Xterra.com will both be delivered via the Akamai Platform as Nissan integrates its Web ad campaign with a unique broadcast and print campaign.
"It's of critical importance to Nissan North America that its commitment to customer service is reflected in its e-business operations and the ability to successfully meet site visitors' expectations," said Sean Blankenship, Nissan e-business senior manager. "With EdgeSuite, and its integrated features for last mile acceleration, and real-time and historical usage reporting, Akamai provides the ability to scale Nissan North America's corporate sites internationally without future build-out, all while enhancing site performance and protecting existing infrastructure against downtime. As we embark on one of our largest marketing campaigns with the introduction of the 2003 Z, Akamai's proven track record in ensuring the utmost in reliability and scale made them the perfect technology partner."
"As one of today's premier businesses both off- and online, Nissan North America represents the kind of forward-looking enterprise that recognizes the value of extending its brand to the Internet to reach a wider consumer base in a timely, interactive manner," said Mark Vargo, vice president, Global Marketing, at Akamai. "EdgeSuite is the solution that makes this possible by taking on the secure, reliable, whole site delivery of Nissan North America's Web properties and mitigating the need for complex, global data center build-out."
EdgeSuite is an integrated suite of services designed to fulfill a broad range of e-business infrastructure needs, including content and application delivery, content targeting, and business intelligence, while providing unmatched scalability and continual uptime for an enterprise's global Web operations.
