WA: Golden Bosun Tavern staff surprised by assault allegations
PERTH, Jan 10 AAP - The manager of a Christmas Island tavern said today staff weresurprised by claims navy personnel assaulted each other during a night at the bar.
Military police are probing allegations of widespread misconduct that could lead tocriminal charges against some of the crew of the frigate, HMAS Arunta, deployed to interceptasylum seekers.
The allegations include claims that senior naval officials tried to cover up reportsof bar-room misconduct, sexual assaults, nude swimming and a theft spree on the island.
